In recent years, outlandish perceptions of what human trafficking is have gained traction in the minds of the public. These include unsubstantiated claims of people being abducted from shopping malls, playgrounds and other public places to descriptions of shadowy trafficking organisations controlling the global economy. Where do these ideas come from? QAnon has hijacked anti-trafficking discourse and activism with its outlandish claims of elite paedophilia and calls to ‘save the children’.
This panel will feature recognized researchers along with those affected by the QAnon conspiracy theory. By exploring QAnon, we can understand its effects.
