Mission & Purpose

The Collaborative’s aim is to weave inclusivity into the very fabric of our university, promoting an environment that values, respects, and supports community members.

This Collaborative will serve as a central hub for dialogue, innovation, and action, and serves as the primary advisory committee to the Office of Inclusive Excellence and the University’s Leadership Team on matters promoting inclusive excellence and fairness, connection, and belonging concepts.

Specifically, the Collaborative will:

  • Advocate for systemic change: Drive forward initiatives that address barriers to inclusion and connection through policy creation and recommending accountability measures.
  • Promote University wide dialogue and collaboration: Create spaces for meaningful conversations to amplify marginalized voices and to move away from siloed work that has stifled our community.
  • Support growth and development: Advance our community members around inclusivity and belonging and increase their knowledge base and skill sets to perform at a higher level in their roles.
  • Measure and enhance impact: Create data-informed evaluative processes for everything so that nothing is based on an individual’s experience, but on the communities’ experiences that we’ve collected and studied.

Member Orientation and Training

The Office of Inclusive Excellence has developed a training series designed to prepare Collaborative members for their role in advancing inclusive excellence at Montclair State University. Through interactive sessions, self-guided learning, and engagement with university stakeholders, members will gain a deep understanding of Montclair’s institutional structure, diversity landscape, and commitment to fairness and inclusion.

Each session will include guest speakers, resource materials, and action-oriented discussions to help build a strong foundation for the committee’s work in Fall 火狐体育.
