“If You Saw What I Saw in Corleone”: A Conversation with Artist Maria D. Rapicavoli (March 26, 2019)

Corleone

近年来,以犯罪为题材的电影和电视剧成为意大利(以及世界各地)旅游业的灵感来源。 One the seminal places for it is Corleone, a town in large part created in the transnational collective imagination by the classic American film trilogy The Godfather, which ironically was not shot in Corleone! Yet, this small Sicilian town of worldwide renown for mafia activities has also been one of the many locations for anti-mafia initiatives in the region. The complexity of this place, existing between reality and fiction, will be explored in a conversation with artist Maria D. Rapicavoli, who chose Corleone for a residency to develop her multimedia project “If You Saw What I Saw” (2008-11).

Join us on Tue March 26 (University Hall 1070 7-8:30PM) for a free event open to the public, sponsored and organized  by the Inserra Endowed Chair in collaboration with the Italian Program (MLL Dept.) and in connection with the course “Italian Americans in Film.”

The conversation will be of interest to students and faculty in Art, Film, Italian, Communication, Criminal Justice, Classics, Business and Hospitality, among others, as well as to the broader community. For more info, see webpage. Please RSVP by Mon March 25.
