Annual Scholarship Fundraiser to Honor Four Alumni

On Saturday, May 22, the Montclair State community will come together for the 2021 Annual Scholarship Fundraiser to benefit student scholarships. With an outdoor program, this year’s event will showcase select musical performances featuring students from the University’s College of the Arts, and will enable attendees to see the splendor of the newly renovated College Hall.

At the event, University President Susan A. Cole will honor four alumni for their passion and commitment not only to Montclair State as their alma mater, but for their personal and professional contribution to their communities.

• Rose L. Cali ’80 will receive the Mary Mochary and Michael Kasser Award for Philanthropic Leadership.
• Denise Rover ’84 and Al Prieto ’84 will be co-honored and receive the Margaret and Herman Sokol Award for Alumni Achievement and Civic Leadership.
• Michael J. Fucci ’80 will receive the Rose and John J. Cali Award for Business Leadership and Community Engagement.

As the Montclair State Foundation’s premier fundraiser, the event has raised millions of dollars over the years to provide deserving students the opportunity of an affordable education at Montclair State University. Scholarship recipients share that without scholarship support, they would not be able to pursue their degree. And the reality of college becomes that much more out of reach with the added complexities of the pandemic. As one student expressed, “During the pandemic my parents and my job were hit hard… Thanks to this scholarship, I am able to continue to push myself academically without having to sacrifice my time for another job.”
