NJ Transit Service Disruption
NJ Transit and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) are working to reach a settlement with the engineers union. Please be aware that all rail service has ceased as of 12:01 a.m. today. NJ Transit has developed a contingency plan and details can be found on the NJ Trainsit Rail Stop Page.
University Shuttle Service Schedule
Today, Friday, May 16, will be the last day of service for the Bloomfield/Montclair shuttle, with service resuming on Friday, August 22. This summer, there will be no Bloomfield Connection, no Nighthawk Service and no Shopper to Clifton Commons. Additionally, there will be no shuttle service over Memorial Day Weekend, from Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26. This information is also available on the Shuttle Services webpage. Contact shuttle Services at shuttle@montclair.edu if you have any questions.
Open Fire Safety Training
Fire Safety will be hosting an Open Campus Fire Safety Training Day on Wednesday, May 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Stone Hall. This hands-on training is for all staff and faculty. Our goal is to promote campus safety awareness before the start of summer. We will be demonstrating the effects of smoke doors, how to evacuate a smoke filled environment (using theater smoke) and fire extinguisher training. This training is hands on and anyone can walk in at any time. Shuttle services will be provided from Bloomfield campus and the Overlook office building. Departure and return times are listed on the sign-up form.

A Day in the Life
University Communications and Marketing is always looking for stories to tell and share about our students, faculty and staff. We are interested in showcasing members of our University community who are doing something noteworthy — whether in the classroom, through research, internships, jobs, hobbies or unique personal experiences. If you or someone you know has a compelling story to share, please complete the A Day in the Life submission form. Faculty and staff may also submit on behalf of students who express interest.

- Montclair State University graduate, Aly Erario, was featured in this People Magazine article about the moment she revealed to her friends at graduation that she had secretly been the school mascot for years.
- Dan Geltrude (Accounting and Finance) appeared on this Wake Up America segment to offer commentary on several news topics related to the economy.
Kudos
- To Jim Anderson (Financial Aid), who was honored at the annual Eastern Association of Financial Aid Administrators (EASFAA) Conference with the 火狐体育 Distinguished Service Award. This award is presented in recognition of significant contributions to EASFAA through leadership and association activities.
- To Natascia Boeri (Sociology), who was appointed to the International Committee of Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS), which supports global and transnational feminist scholarship and gender justice. As part of this role, she will help coordinate a delegation to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
- To Emily Douglas (Social Work and Child Advocacy), who was quoted in an article by Texas Public Radio on child abuse and neglect related deaths in Texas.
- To Minji Lee (Religion), an editor at Nursing Clio, whose editorial team has been awarded the George Rosen Prize by the American Association for the History of Medicine (AAHM). The prize recognizes Nursing Clio’s exceptional contributions to public scholarship in reproductive and medical history.
- To Mayida Zaal (Teaching and Learning), director of the Red Hawks Rising Teacher Academy, which was recently featured in a New York Times opinion piece and recognized for its impactful work in preparing the next generation of educators.
- To Brian Krist (History) who was quoted in this Times Union article about proposed amendments to New York’s substantial equivalency law for private schools in New York state.
- To Milton Fuentes and the department of Social Work and Child Advocacy for co-sponsoring the second annual Partners in Good Health Conference with nonprofit organization Table to Table. The conference is designed to connect, inform and empower the nonprofit’s partner pantries, social service agencies, shelters and other community partners, who distribute food to communities in need throughout Bergen, Essex, Passaic Hudson and Morris counties.
