I am a professor of English specializing in Victorian literature and culture, and I also teach courses on the Bible as literature, myth and literature, mystery and crime fiction, and related subjects.

Specialization

Victorian poetry and popular culture; nineteenth-century classicism; motherhood and gender studies; the Bible as literature. Recent publications include _Victorian Verse: The Poetics of Everyday Life_ (Palgrave/Macmillan, 2023), with Olivia Loksing Moy; "The Case of Light Verse, or Vers de Societe," in _Victorian Poetry_ (Winter 2019); _Victorian Literature: Criticism and Debates_ (Routledge, 2016), with Anne Longmuir; and “The Victorian Marcus Aurelius: Mill, Arnold, and the Appeal of the Quasi-Christian," The Journal of Victorian Culture 16.1 (April 2011).
